James Marsh’s Project Nim Trailer

Director James Marsh is known for directing the 100% certified fresh Man on Wire. Right now, it is currently one of the best reviewed films of all time, according to Rotten Tomatoes. His next film is Project Nim and it's a documentary about an experiment that was held in the 1970's that was aimed at teaching chimps ways of communication by raising and nurturing them like a human being. It looks interesting enough, but I doubt it will be able to live up to the hype of his last film.

Director James Marsh is known for directing the 100% certified fresh Man on Wire. Right now, it is currently one of the best reviewed films of all time, according to Rotten Tomatoes. His next film is Project Nim and it’s a documentary about an experiment that was held in the 1970’s that was aimed at teaching chimps ways of communication by raising and nurturing them like a human being. It looks interesting enough, but I doubt it will be able to live up to the hype of his last film. It is receiving positive early reviews though so who knows, maybe he has another hit on his hands.

Project Nim opens July 8th, 2011. Check out the trailer and synopsis below:

From the Oscar-winning team behind MAN ON WIRE comes the story of Nim, the chimpanzee who in the 1970s became the focus of a landmark experiment which aimed to show that an ape could learn to communicate with language if raised and nurtured like a human child. Following Nim’s extraordinary journey through human society, and the enduring impact he makes on the people he meets along the way, the film is an unflinching and unsentimental biography of an animal we tried to make human. What we learn about his true nature – and indeed our own – is comic, revealing and profoundly unsettling.
