The latest episode of what seems to be an unending string of wild DCU rumors flung about on the internet would have fans believe that James Gunn is planning three Justice League movies in the first chapter of his planned reboot.
I bet not even James Gunn knows how to react to all of the scuttlebutt swirling around the internet anymore. One second he’s apparently bringing the entire pool of comic book B-listers from the Bronze Age to his Superman: Legacy, and the next, he’s planning three separate and consecutive Justice League movies in the forthcoming “Gods & Monsters” era.
And as is the case with most DCU topics these days, the mere mention of more characters from the comic book powerhouse turned it into a heated debate on Reddit.
Not only a Justice League Dark movie but two more entries to follow it up? Most people are naturally skeptical because it just sounds too good to be true if not downright disconcerting.
Of course, talking about Justice League as such an early junction after the forced termination of the SnyderVerse will only add insult to injury. There are many other exciting names on that list (I mean, did anyone even see John Constantine?) so the fact that everyone is fixating on those three Justice League projects is very telling.
Now, quick, before anyone decides to blame James Gunn for this list too — as we wouldn’t really put it past some diehard Snyder enthusiasts to claim Gunn is planting these rumors out there himself — let us remember that the Guardians of the Galaxy director would be lucky if he managed to hit all the production checkmarks in his already-announced DCU slate, let alone supposed “secret” projects, and ones as ambitious and game-changing as Justice League.
