Jaden Smith sparks Miles Morales casting rumours with Twitter post

Since Jaden Smith donned the Spider-Man mask on Twitter, Marvel fans have been going wild.

Jaden Smith, son of The Fresh Prince, Will Smith, made his film debut in the biographical drama, The Pursuit of Happyness (2006), alongside his father. He appeared with his dad again in the post-apocalyptic action film, After Earth (2013). Perhaps Jaden Smith’s most significant role was starring as Dre Parker in Karate Kid (2010) acting beside the legendary Jackie Chan.

Following the recasting of Spider-Man in Captain America: Civil War, Tom Holland joined the fray as an addition to Team Iron Man. Holland carried the torch from Andrew Garfield, whose last outing as Peter Parker was in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 until he appeared alongside Tobey Maguire and Tom Holland in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

When Holland took over as Spider-Man and the universe expanded itself, fans were eager to see the introduction of more Spider-Folk — especially after Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse introduced Gwen Stacy, Miles Morales and a whole host of Spider-people from alternate realities.

Now, Marvel fans are crying out for a confirmed Miles Morales appearance, particularly after No Way Home was released and Miles was absent. Jaden Smith has topped the charts for many fan-cast articles, standing out as the clear choice for the part. Recently, Smith posted a selfie to his Twitter account that gives Marvel fans a sneak preview at a potential future Miles Morales. He captioned the tweet, “Wya I’m Tryna Swing By”.

As expected, Smith’s selfie sparked plenty of rumors in regards to his involvement in the MCU. Marvel fans flocked to the comments to discuss the potential casting hint.

Smith dropped the selfie just three days after Marvel reportedly eyed Jaden for a role in the MCU, but this rumour has not been officially supported.

In 2022, Smith will feature as an unnamed character in Disney’s The Proud Family: Louder and Prouder, but has not yet announced any upcoming projects, likely focusing on his music career. Also this year, Sony Pictures Animation (in association with Marvel) will release Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse (Part One) and expand the animated universe.

Hopefully, Across the Spider-Verse will prompt the MCU to introduce Miles Morales – and maybe we can get a cool Jaden Smith/Tom Holland team-up!
