Arriving online today is the second trailer for Bryan Singer’s Jack The Giant Slayer. If you recall, the first trailer popped up almost a year ago but wasn’t received too well. And so, here we have a second look at the film which hopes to change your mind. But does it do the job?
Providing more of a focus on the storyline, Singer’s re-telling of the classic tale still looks pretty mediocre. Admittedly, the visuals are kinda neat and there looks to be promising performances from the usually reliable Ewan McGregor and Stanley Tucci, but everything else about this just screams problematic.
There seems to be a bit of a mis-balance with the film’s tone as it can’t decide what it wants to be (serious fantasy epic or slapstick-y action adventure) and thus, I can’t decide what to make of it. It looks as if Singer has built quite the world, one that has an epic scope and scale, but the humor in the trailer seems very misplaced. Hopefully the film will receive some more polish in the editing room before its March 1st, 2013 release date.
