Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse will soon be hitting theaters, giving fans the return of Miles Morales as Spider-Man, along with his other web-slinging friends, Spider-Woman and Peter B. Parker. In the upcoming sequel, Miles will be meeting more Spider-people just like him, including Oscar Isaac‘s character, Miguel O’Hara, aka Spider-Man 2099.
Miles Morales made his theatrical debut in 2018 in Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse, a Spider-Man movie that was a massive success. So much so that his character was referenced in the MCU’s Spider-Man: No Way Home. At the same time, this particular Spider-Man also received his own video game. So with all the love and success that Miles Morales has received, is it possible that a live-action film featuring this Spider-Man variant is in production?
Is Miles Morales getting a live-action film?
In Spider-Man: No Way Home, Electro told Andrew Garfield‘s Spider-Man that he thought that the Spider-Man in their universe was Black since he’s from Queens and was seen helping the less fortunate. Garfield’s Spider-Man apologizes, thinking that he broke his expectations, but Electro remains hopeful that a black Spider-Man exists somewhere.
While it was unfortunate that Miles Morales didn’t appear in the third MCU Spider-Man movie, there is hope that this Spidey-variant will still get a taste of live-action. According to Variety, Sony Pictures producer Amy Pascal announced during the Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse LA premiere that a Miles Morales live-action movie is in the works. At the moment, not much detail about this upcoming live-action take on the character is known, including who will play the young superhero.
So far, there is no production timeline, nor is there a scheduled release date. But Sony Pictures ensured that fans will finally get their wish, especially due to how popular Miles Morales has become since Into the Spider-Verse. For now, fans can still catch Miles in his animated form, played by Shameik Moore when Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse hits theaters on June 2, 2023.
