New International Poster For Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 2 Debuts

To date, Marvel's marketing campaign for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 has been clever, creative and exciting, with the studio being careful not to give away any plot details but still teasing us with enough to ensure that the upcoming sequel is right at the top of our list of must-see films this summer. Not that they really need to worry, mind you, as along with death and taxes, the other certainty in life is that this movie is going to make a boatload of money for Marvel.

Still, all hands are on deck as we draw closer to the release of Guardians 2 and the blitz continues today with a colorful new international poster, which perfectly captures the wild, manic energy of both the characters and the film itself, all placed on a cosmic backdrop. It doesn’t reveal anything we haven’t seen before, but rather gives us a look at Star-Lord and crew along with new characters Mantis and Ayesha, among others. Surprisingly, Baby Groot’s pushed out of the spotlight here – unlike most of the other marketing – but he’s still there at the bottom, looking as adorable as ever.

There’s a lot going on with this poster, to be sure, but it fits in perfectly with what we’ve already seen and makes for an eye-catching, visually appealing one-sheet. Not only that, but it also arrives with the news that the sequel will be getting a simultaneous release in China, which definitely bodes well for its box office numbers.

Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 blasts into theatres on May 5th, and if recent test screenings are any indication, it’s going to be one hell of a film, not to mention it’s set to have one of the biggest openings of all-time. Will all that be enough to lure director James Gunn back for a third outing? Time will tell, but if not, then at least it looks like he’ll be going out on top.
