The first trailer has been released for Angelina Jolie’s directorial debut In The Land Of Blood And Honey. Jolie has taken a very unusual approach, one that I find quite interesting and wish there was more of. She has decided to create two versions of her Bosnian war love story, one in English and the other in their native Bosnian-Croatian-Serbian language. This will add authenticity to the film and will definitely open the film up to the Bosnian audience.
From what we see here, the film looks incredibly authentic, with an entire Bosnian cast of relatively unknown actors which includes Milos Timotijevic, Alma Terzic, Zana Marjanovic, Goran Kostic, Rade Serbedzija and Branko Djuric.
The synopsis for the film reads:
“In the Land of Blood and Honey is a melancholy drama set during Bosnia’s 1992-95 civil war and follows a Christian Serb (Goran Kostic) and a Bosniak woman (ZanaMarjanovic) whose lives are torn apart when violence flares between ethnic and religious groups.”
In the Land of Blood and Honey will have a limited release on December 23rd.
