In more good news for ‘The Flash,’ it actually made millions less at the box office than first thought

What sort of misfortune will be next for the Scarlet Speedster?

Just when you thought things couldn’t get any more unfortunate for The Flash, it turns out that those opening weekend box office numbers are actually even worse than first reported.

The first wave of estimates had Andy Muschietti’s multiversal adventure taking in $64 million across its first four days, which was bad enough considering that was below the likes of Ang Lee’s Hulk, Tim Story’s Fantastic Four, and Dwayne Johnson’s DCU stablemate Black Adam.

However, now that the numbers have been officially crunched right down to the penny, The Flash‘s first weekend haul was $61.2 million. The movie is basically being kicked while it’s already down and perilously close to being out at this point, with Warner Bros.’ hype train having not just derailed, but flown off a steep cliff and then exploded upon hitting the bottom.

Sure, Ezra Miller’s long-in-development solo debut has only been playing on the big screen for a matter of days, but it isn’t too early to call The Flash a monster-sized flop. There are even doomsayers out there predicting that it may not even be able to crack $300 million globally by the time it exits the multiplex for good, which would be outright embarrassing.

Alas, DC’s run of rotten luck looks set to continue for some time yet, which bodes very badly for both Blue Beetle and Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom unless they can somehow manage to turn a tide that’s in real danger of turning into a destructive tsunami that lays waste to everything in its path.
