Today we’re happy to bring you the first look at 300: Rise of an Empire. The two new images, seen above and below, show off a battle scene and star Sullivan Stapleton as Greek general Themistokles. Judging by the look of these photos alone, you can clearly tell that the film shares a similarity in style and look to its predecessor and as a fan of what Zack Snyder did with 300, I’m pleased to see that.
Directed by Noam Murro, the story found here is set to parallel the original. It will apparently feature an “aquatic setting” which will allow for “a completely new dynamic.”
“[Rise of an Empire] happens over time in many different locations. The opportunities for the six distinct battles are even greater with different locations and tactics… The few against the many is still here. It’s hundreds vs. hundreds of thousands. It’s about taking on the mightiest power of all with wisdom and tactics,” said Murro.
Sounds exciting, and with Snyder acting as a producer on the film, we’re hopeful that 300: Rise of an Empire will turn out to be a pretty entertaining experience. Whether Murro can deliver on the visuals and action like Snyder did remains to be seen, but I don’t think we have much to worry about.
As mentioned above, the two images seen here seem to emulate the first film’s style quite well and I’m guessing we’ll be treated to a pretty similar final product, which is fine by me. I loved 300 and I’m eager to see more from this universe.
300: Rise of an Empire is set for release on August 2nd. Check out the images above and below and let us know what you think. Does the film look like it will achieve the same success as the original? Are you ready for more madness?
