While they’ll forever be remembered for their roles in the ever-popular Harry Potter film series, Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint have all moved on from the famous franchise, and branched out in terms of their careers and acting gigs. While Grint is perhaps the least busy of the three, Watson returned to stardom with her work in Disney’s live-action remake of Beauty and the Beast and Radcliffe has continued acting thanks to plenty of appearances in indie movies, with a few more notable films sprinkled in for good measure.
His latest project is Guns Akimbo, an action comedy movie that seems to heavily lean into the idea of a battle royale, most made famous by The Hunger Games, Fortnite, Apex Legends, and, of course, the Japanese film that lent its name to the genre. Directed by Jason Lei Howden, the movie sees Radcliffe taking on the role of Miles, a young man in a dead-end job whose life is turned upside down when he’s forced into a city-wide game of death, which is being live-streamed around the world.
It’s shaping up to be one of Daniel’s more action-focused projects, and a new image (courtesy of Bloody Disgusting) shows Radcliffe with a gun in hand and the area around him littered in debris and destruction. It’s a bit hard to make out, but you can see it in the gallery down below.
The film’s cast also includes Natasha Liu Bordizzo, who some might remember from her roles in Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon: Sword of Destiny, as well as The Greatest Showman. Samara Weaving, who was recently picked to play Keanu Reeves’ daughter in Bill & Ted Face The Music, also stars.
Unfortunately, Guns Akimbo has no release date as of yet, but it’ll be making its world premiere at next month’s Toronto International Film Festival. Be sure to keep checking back for more news and updates regarding Radcliffe’s latest project.
