The Fast & Furious franchise is continuing its tradition of casting gorgeous chanteuses in bit parts, with word that Fancy singer Iggy Azalea has a cameo appearance in next year’s Fast & Furious 7. The anticipated tentpole, which was dealt a serious blow when actor Paul Walker died in a car crash mid-way through shooting, recently wrapped production.
News of Azalea’s involvement came when an interviewer with France’s Skyrock FM asked actor Vin Diesel which songs he’d like to dance to most if he had to choose between Jason Derulo’s “Wiggle,” Azalea’s “Fancy” or Ariana Grande’s “Problem.” Answering the question, Diesel let slip that Azalea had a part in Fast & Furious 7 by saying:
“Well, Iggy Azalea, I just worked with her two weeks ago. I guess you’ll be the first person that knows this — we casted her in Fast & Furious 7. She has a cameo in Fast & Furious 7.”
No specifics yet on which role Azalea will play, though her part is, as Diesel said, a cameo. That means she could show up as one of the many barely clothed women who seem to always find their way into these films, or as a car mechanic, a racer girl wielding a flag… or really anything. Just so long as she’s not singing.
Previously, pop star Rita Ora had a bit role in Fast & Furious 6 as the head of a London-based all-girls racing team. It’s definitely conceivable that Azalea could have bagged a similar part – though we probably won’t know until the film hits theaters.
The latest Fast & Furious stars Diesel, Walker and Dwayne Johnson, along with returning actors Michelle Rodriguez, Jordana Brewster, Tyrese Gibson, Chris “Ludacris” Bridges, Elsa Pataky and Lucas Black. Joining the cast this time around are Jason Statham, Ronda Rousey, Kurt Russell and Tony Jaa.
Fast & Furious 7 will finally race into theaters on April 3rd, 2015.
