Taking the famous Stark motto and flipping it on its head, the latest round of character posters for Paramount’s Baywatch movie have arrived online for your viewing pleasure.
Featuring Dwayne Johnson and the gang suited and booted, the studio’s latest promo material keeps up tradition in that it focuses on Baywatch’s core team of lifeguards – namely Zac Efron (Matt Brody), Alexandra Daddario (Summer), Kelly Rohrbach (C.J.), Ilfenesh Hadera (Stephanie Holden) and Jon Bass as Ronnie, a “funny, awkward and a skilled disco dancer at the beach” – along with their primary adversary: Priyanka Chopra’s greedy oil tycoon, Victoria Leeds.
Directed by Seth Gordon of Horrible Bosses fame, the latest script for Baywatch hails from Damian Shannon and Mark Swift, and we understand the general gist of their reimagining pits Johnson and his crew against Chopra’s imposing villain. The future of the Bay hangs in the balance, and Mitch Buchannon and his loyal guards are the only ones standing between Chopra and her nefarious plan. Shenanigans and R-rated hijinks ensue.
Baywatch will hope to kick off Hollywood’s blockbuster season with a bang when Seth Gordon’s R-rated reboot trots off the beach and into theaters on May 26. Assuming audiences take to its Jump Street-esque comedy, there’s every chance Paramount could push on with a sequel in the not-so-distant future. Alas, we’ll have to wait to see how Gordon’s romp fares at the box office before gauging its status as a potential franchise-starter. Other films currently penciled in for that same window include Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales and Ridley Scott’s Alien: Covenant.
