Not long enough, that's for sure.

Greta Gerwig’s Barbie movie is all everyone seems to talk about ever since the very first behind-the-scenes pictures hit the internet about a year ago. The live-action flick starring Margot Robbie and Ryan Gosling has gotten nothing but praise for tapping into what the doll is all about, and leaning fully into it, both in the movie itself and its marketing.

In the Barbie world, everything is pretty, pink, and plastic, but make no mistake, this movie will be about much more than that. While staying loyal to the doll and its brand’s aesthetics, Gerwig’s film will have a strong comedic vein and explore Barbie’s physical and mental journey as she trades Barbieland for the real world. Sounds like a good time, right? But among so many things that Gerwig got right, there is something already causing disappointment among fans — the film’s runtime.

What will Barbie‘s exact runtime be?

According to IMDb, this upcoming film will have a runtime of 1h 54m, including credits as well as any potential post-credits scenes. As soon as the news found its target audience, the sad comments started pouring in online. Despite it being an almost two-hour-long movie, those who have been vibrating with excitement for this release consider that it deserves a longer runtime, and expected a little bit more.

In all fairness, this is a perfectly typical runtime for a movie, and no matter how much folks want to immerse themselves in this vibrant story, there can be too much of a good thing. In recent years, overlong films have become somewhat of a trend, but if Gerwig can tell the story in less than two hours, we should trust her judgment.

Barbie will be hitting theaters on July 21.
