Hot Tub Time Machine 2 Red Band Trailer Offers Raunchy Laughs

Honestly, why not? That's the conclusion I've come to about Hot Tub Time Machine 2, Paramount's unlikely sequel to the 2010 hit. After all, in the last few years, we sat through three Hangover movies, two awful Think Like A Man movies and there's even a Horrible Bosses sequel on the way. So why not give Craig Robinson, Clark Duke and Rob Corddry another chance to earn our laughs in this sequel? Especially when the jokes seem as funny as they do in this new red band trailer.

Honestly, why not? That’s the conclusion I’ve come to about Hot Tub Time Machine 2, Paramount’s unlikely sequel to the 2010 hit. After all, in the last few years, we sat through three Hangover movies, two awful Think Like A Man movies and there’s even a Horrible Bosses sequel on the way. So why not give Craig Robinson, Clark Duke and Rob Corddry another chance to earn our laughs in this sequel? Especially when the jokes seem as funny as they do in this new red band trailer.

Comic-Con is typically reserved for superheroes and geek properties, but Paramount saw fit to deliver this raunchy new preview for Hot Tub Time Machine 2 – and I’m glad they did. Though I was hesitant at first about a sequel to a movie with the sort of one-joke premise you come up with after a night of heavy drinking, the Hot Tub Time Machine 2 trailer made me laugh more than I thought it would.

This time around, the gang (minus John Cusack) are forced to use the hot tub time machine to save Lou’s (Corddry) life after he’s shot, and they end up going forward in time instead of back. Whereas the last film was all about mocking the ’80s, this sequel is a little less specific, going 10 years forward into a “Scandinavian gay bar”-esque future. Though some of the jokes fall a little flat, I’m loving the Terminator references and Robinson and Corddrry’s nerd song.

Also exciting – Community‘s Gillian Jacobs plays the female lead, while Parks and Recreation‘s Adam Scott joins the cast. Chevy Chase also reprises his role as the enigmatic hot tub repairman.

Hot Tub Time Machine 2 hits Christmas Day this year. It’s opening against stiff competition like Oscar contenders UnbrokenInto the WoodsSelma and Big Eyes, as well as kiddie flick Paddington. Something tells me, though, that the same crowd that made the first installment a success will come back around for this sequel.
