By the time Spider-Man: Homecoming rolls around in two weeks’ time, Tony Stark will be rocking Iron Man’s Mark XLVII suit – a quantum leap from the rudimentary hunk of junk that allowed Robert Downey Jr.’s whip-smart Avenger to escape that cave all those years ago – and thanks to a remarkably detailed new Hot Toys figure, we now have our best look at Stark’s flagship product yet.
As relayed to us by Sideshow Toy (via Screen Rant), the well-crafted collectible is 1/6th scale, and would no doubt earn a place on the shelf of any Marvel aficionado – providing you have enough expendable income, of course, given the figure below is priced at an eye-watering $354.99 before shipping. Nevertheless, for those of us who simply want to take a closer look at Tony Stark’s Mark XLVII as it’ll appear in Spider-Man: Homecoming, the gallery below ought to sate your appetite ahead of the movie’s imminent release.
July 7th is the date for your diaries, and we know from previous reports that Robert Downey Jr.’s genius, billionaire, playboy, and philanthropist will have “five or six” scenes opposite Tom Holland’s budding Peter Parker, in which we expect to see their pseudo-father-son dynamic reach new heights following Holland’s MCU debut in Captain America: Civil War back in 2016. And fans will want to savor every moment, too, after it was confirmed earlier this week that Spider-Man: Homecoming‘s inevitable sequel will replace Iron Man with another superhero plucked from Marvel’s ever-expanding roster. Captain America, perhaps? Or someone from left-field like Doctor Strange?
It’s the sixth Spidey movie and third reincarnation in the space of 15 years, but thanks to Sony’s licensing deal with Marvel, Spider-Man: Homecoming still feels garden-fresh. We’ll be able to see what all the fuss is about on July 7th, before Parker and Ton Stark join forces once more for Avengers: Infinity War in 2018.
Meanwhile, Sony is making headway with its own Marvel Universe, which begins with the launch of Venom on October 5th, 2018.
