22 heroes. Six Infinity Stones. One Mad Titan.
We’re referring, of course, to Entertainment Weekly’s Avengers: Infinity War blowout, which kicked off late last week with a raft of beautiful covers designed to bring us closer to the film’s incredible ensemble cast.
Conspicuous by his absence? Hawkeye, sadly, who was nowhere to be seen. Not that that came as much of a surprise, mind you, as the character has been left on the sidelines for most of Infinity War‘s marketing campaign. It’s got folks a bit worried, too, though what’s likely going on is that Marvel’s just trying to avoid spoilers, as there’s obviously a big reveal on the way for Jeremy Renner’s fan favorite.
Be that as it may, Renner himself is seemingly tired of being left out of the spotlight and has today shared a fan-made cover dedicated entirely to Mr. Clint Barton. It was designed by Boss Logic and puts Hawkeye front and centre, striking a pose and looking badass as usual. But that’s not all, as another variation surfaced as well and actually has the character in his Ronin guise, which he’s rumored to be transitioning into at some point during the film.
Initially dreamed up by comic book duo Brian Michael Bendis and Joe Quesada, Ronin is essentially another alias for Clint Barton, who comes into play as part of Marvel’s New Avengers. He also has ties to the Skrulls, which may help bridge Captain Marvel with the current iteration of the MCU.
Circling back to Hawkeye, though, and we wouldn’t be too concerned about the studio leaving him out of the marketing campaign. Like we said above, it’s almost definitely because of spoilers and not because he doesn’t have a big role. After all, Renner recently told us that the film will do “wondrous things” with the character.
What exactly that means, we don’t know, but we don’t have long left before we see Barton and the rest of the gang back on the big screen, as the Avengers will assemble to take down the Mad Titan once and for all on April 27th, when Infinity War storms into theaters.
