Amid the superhero furore that emanated from Warner Bros.’ Comic-Con presentation, one notable absentee was Dunkirk, the Christopher Nolan war thriller that’s eyeing a primetime release in July of next year.
In typical fashion, the esteemed filmmaker has enlisted an enviable roster of talent that boasts everyone from Tom Hardy and Cillian Murphy to Fionn Whitehead and, er, Harry Styles. Yes, the One Direction heartthrob was perhaps the most surprising addition to that lineup, but a new wave of set photos emerging today place the spotlight on his soldier dressed in period garb. Check them out below.
Chronicling the famous WWII rescue mission known as Operation Dynamo, Christopher Nolan’s latest “opens as hundreds of thousands of British and Allied troops are surrounded by enemy forces. Trapped on the beach with their backs to the sea they face an impossible situation as the enemy closes in.” That’s quite the pitch, and reports emerging from the French set reveal that Nolan is aiming big – IMAX big – with his wartime drama.
Beyond Hardy, Murphy, Whitehead and Styles, Dunkirk has also recruited such talent as Kenneth Branagh, Aneurin Barnard, James D’Arcy, Jack Lowden, Barry Keoghan and Tom Glynn-Carney.
Christopher Nolan’s “pure, powerful” war flick will grace these shores on July 21, 2017.
