The moment I saw the claymation I knew they had gone too far. The trailer was actually pretty watchable until that point. But then again, their is a NPH musical number, so it does kind of redeem itself.
I’m talking about the preview for A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas, the third film in the Harold & Kumar series. It’s a ridiculous trailer but then again, this is a ridiculous series. While I thoroughly enjoyed the first film, the second one just didn’t do it for me. The inclusion of NPH is always a bonus but I still have to wonder, will they be able to pull off a successful third outing?
Judging from the trailer, you’re going to get exactly what you expect. A somewhat funny stoner flick that despite the what looks the be an extended role for NPH, probably won’t be as good as the original. It looks absurd, wild and the tone and atmosphere definitely fits in with the series.
I don’t think it will be awful, but I also don’t see it being as funny as the first. If nothing else, it will make for a nice change of pace as the Fall season is going to be quite busy with Oscar dramas.
John Cho, Kal Penn, and Neil Patrick Harris all return to reprise their roles and they are joined by newcomers Patton Oswalt, Elias Koteas, and Thomas Lennon

After years of growing apart, Harold Lee and Kumar Patel have replaced each other with new friends and are preparing for their respective Yuletide celebrations. But when a mysterious package mistakenly arrives at Kumar’s door on Christmas Eve, his attempt to redirect it to Harold’s house ends with the “high grade” contents — and Harold’s father-in-law’s prize Christmas tree — going up in smoke. With his in-laws out of the house for the day, Harold decides to cover his tracks, rather than come clean. Reluctantly embarking on another ill-advised journey with Kumar through New York City, their search for the perfect replacement tree takes them through party heaven — and almost blows Christmas Eve sky high.
