Paramount Pictures have delayed the release of Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters for two weeks ensuring it gets a simultaneous IMAX release. Starring Jeremy Renner as Hansel and the brilliant (as she shares the same name and nationality as this writer – hurrah) Gemma Arterton as Gretel, the film mythologizes by way of The Matrix, a dose of payback for the old hag who years before tried to turn the siblings into a snack. Now we’re set to see it on a very big screen. Oh, and it’s in 3D.
This move hopes that Hansel and Gretel won’t fight for the top of the box office charts on opening weekend. It was previously scheduled to open alongside Gangster Squad but now will duel with ensemble comedy Movie 43 and Jason Statham’s Parker.
The first trailer debuted back in September and a Russian one arrived recently with newer footage, fantastic dubbing and Cyrillic titles. As per usual the dialogue in the trailer doesn’t need to be in English for you to grasp the idea/have the film spoiled. This preview sheds more blood but can they save any of the horror for the final feature itself?
You can check out the English language trailer below just in case you haven’t seen it yet.
Hansel and Gretel: Witch Hunters is scheduled for release January 25th, 2013.
