Will she be part of that world?

Halle Bailey just made what critics and Disney fans alike are labeling as a star-making turn in The Little Mermaid live-action remake, so no doubt the singer-turned-actress has many bright things ahead of her in Hollywood. She’s already set to appear in The Color Purple, of course, but these days, any kind of success inevitably leads to chatter about a potential Marvel role. Although, in this case, Bailey already seems primed to become a superhero thanks to her seriously intense TLM training.

Twitter user @photonsmight went viral for sharing some literally jaw-dropping pics of Bailey strengthening her neck muscles in preparation for playing Ariel by wearing a weighted metal mask. The photos provide ample evidence that Bailey has the physical fortitude to withstand the extreme training regime that every MCU actor must undergo ahead of them donning spandex. Kevin Feige, how about giving Halle a call, huh?

We’re not entirely sure what it was about The Little Mermaid‘s production that required Bailey to work on her neck strength like this, but it might’ve been Ariel’s iconic hair flip.

As for who Bailey could theoretically play in the MCU, luckily for her, the X-Men are on their way. And there wouldn’t be any character more fitting than Siryn — she’s even got red hair like Ariel!

Or, continuing that theme, there’s always Jean Grey.

Having said that, James Gunn’s DC might be smart to poach both Bailey sisters before Marvel does as Halle and Chloe would be perfect as Starfire and Blackfire in a Teen Titans film.

Who knows, maybe if we’re lucky, Halle Bailey could swim into the seas of the superhero genre before too long.
