The Marvel Cinematic Universe might encompass entire galaxies, but one experience unites them all: the Blip. Thanos’ world-vanishing snap was felt across all corners of the universe, from Earth to Knowhere, and one beloved side character has just been confirmed as one of its victims.
Guardians of the Galaxy actor and Rocket stand-in Sean Gunn revealed at a convention that his Marvel former-Ravager character Kraglin was one of the casualties of the Blip. Speaking to Cosmic Circus‘ Uday Kataria, Gunn explained that the reason why he was still learning to master Yondu’s arrow in Vol. 3 was that his training was set back by five years thanks to the cosmic-level event.
Kraglin received Yondu’s Yaka Arrow from Quill in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 after the Ravager captain died. In the film we see him try to use it, only to accidentally stab Drax in the chest. That was in 2014, however, which, even with the Blip, would have given Kraglin a few good years to perfect his whistling technique. In Vol. 3 we see that he is still struggling to use the arrow properly, but given the semblance of peace that the crew had found in Knowhere, maybe he hadn’t really had a reason to continue his training.
If the recently released film’s mid-credits scene is anything to go by, we could very well be seeing more of Kraglin and the Yaka Arrow in the future. Maybe he’ll catch up on lost time and become as good, if not better than Yondu at wielding it.
