Scene 3: “I Think I Shall Call Him… Adam.”
This is probably the scene that will get fans the most excited, as it sees the Sovereign’s ruler, Ayesha, about to face the council and find out the repercussions of her failed attempt to take down the Guardians. She isn’t fazed, though, as she’s created a new, better lifeform to do the job for her. We then see a golden incubation chamber of some kind. “I think I will call him… Adam,” Ayesha finishes.
This, of course, is a tease that Adam Warlock is at last coming to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Seeing as the character plays an important part of the Infinity Gauntlet storyline in the comics, fans have long assumed he would make the jump to the movies at some point. We know he’s locked in for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, but will he also pop up in Avengers: Infinity War as well? It seems likely, as his evil side, Magus, is thought to appear in the film.
Scene 4: Teenage Groot Won’t Clean His Room
Back on the Milano, some time has passed and Baby Groot has now grown to adolescence. Peter enters Groot’s room and berates him for not cleaning up after he’s shed his vines. Groot tells him he’s boring – well, he says “I am Groot,” but that’s what he means – and Peter tells him off for doing nothing but playing his video game. Peter then storms off, saying, “now I know how Yondu felt.”
Like the first scene, this one is mostly just for comedic value. However, it does pretty much confirm that Groot will be fully grown again by the time of Vol. 3., and probably Avengers: Infinity War, too.
Scene 5: Stan Lee Needs A Ride Home
In a sequel to Stan Lee’s cameo in the main bulk of the film, the comic book legend is left alone on an asteroid as the Watchers – who were previously listening to his encounters with various superheroes – walk away. Lee pleads with them to come back as he has more stories to tell. Besides, he needs a ride home back to Earth.
This is a hilarious sequence and a welcome return to the fantastic cameo from earlier. These scenes not only introduce the important Watchers into the MCU, but also confirm for the first time that Stan Lee is indeed playing the same character across all of his MCU appearances.
