The success of Guardians of the Galaxy back in 2014 surprised everyone, and while Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 being announced before the first film even hit theatres was a shocker, rumours that some of the team might get their own solo outings was ultimately to be expected.
Those haven’t materialized as of yet, but characters like Star-Lord and Gamora could more than likely hold their own in some sort of spinoff adventure if given the chance. Whether or not Marvel has any plans for such projects remains to be seen, but interestingly, Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 director James Gunn has his own idea about which character should get a movie.
[zergpaid]It’s probably not who you’re expecting either, as he had this to say in response to a fan on Twitter about Karen Gillan’s Nebula being given the spotlight somewhere down the line.
“I have a few favorites myself, but I agree that Nebula should lead her own film – it’s something I’ve thought about from the beginning.”
Nebua is an interesting character, and given what we know about her role in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, that looks set to continue being the case. However, if Marvel hasn’t given a Black Widow movie the green light in the years since Scarlett Johansson first played her in 2010’s Iron Man 2, chances are Nebula is very low on their list of priorities.
Stranger things have happened of course, but for now, we can look forward to seeing more of Nebula in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 when it’s released next May.
