Curious to know when Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 will be available on Blu-ray/DVD? Last month, an online listing outed the release date as being in August and today we can confirm that, as Marvel has officially announced that you’ll be able to take home James Gunn’s sequel next month.
In conjunction with the reveal, the studio also dropped a brand new trailer that you can check out up above. It actually starts off with a clip from the film before revealing several details about the Blu-ray, such as bonus features and an exact release date. Speaking of which, you can expect to grab a copy of the movie digitally on August 8 while a physical release will follow on August 22nd.
As for those aforementioned extras, the promo teases deleted scenes, a gag reel, a music video and much more. Whether that includes some kind of look at upcoming films from the studio like Avengers: Infinity War remains to be seen, but it wouldn’t surprise us if there were a few sneak peeks included here, too.
So, it would seem that Marvel is planning to release Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 across Blu-ray and DVD as a late-summer treat then, and it’s one that will no doubt ensure fans are entertained between Spider-Man: Homecoming (July 7th) and Thor: Ragnarok (November 3rd), the third and final tentpole from the studio to release in 2017.
Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 zoomed into theatres to rave reviews and an impressive box office haul that now stands at $858 million. While it likely won’t hit that $1 billion milestone at this point, it’s fair to say that the sequel’s been a tremendous success on all fronts and we definitely recommend picking it up when it makes its way to Blu-ray next month.
