First Godzilla Trailer Roars Onto The Web

Without a doubt, one of 2014's biggest films is going to be Warner Bros.' upcoming Godzilla reboot. The man behind the camera is Gareth Edwards, who showed that he can handle horror/creature flicks (though on a smaller scale) with 2011's Monsters. It was his directorial debut and received much praise for its creative effects and fantastic atmosphere. The talent doesn't stop there either, with a stellar cast that boasts names like Aaron Taylor-Johnson, Bryan Cranston and Elizabeth Olsen, anticipation is sky high for this one.

Taking into consideration everything I just mentioned, you would think that the marketing campaign would be in full swing for the titular monster. Unfortunately, that’s not the case. Up to this point, we really haven’t seen very much from the film. There’s been some viral content, and a few photos, but that’s about it. It looks like things are finally ready to kick into gear though as today sees the release of the first trailer, and boy is it a sight to behold.

Though brief, the footage delivers on absolutely everything that we’ve been hoping for from the film. Mass destruction? Check. Our first real look at Godzilla? Absolutely. A promising cast? Definitely. Honestly, I couldn’t be happier with what’s on display here and though I’m not a huge fan of creature films in general, Godzilla has just found its way to the top spot on my must-see list for next year. I think that audiences will be pleased with this first trailer and though it would have been nice to get more than just a glimpse at the titular monster, it’s still a great tease for what is likely going to be an excellent film.

Godzilla stomps into theatres on May 16th, 2014. Check out the new trailer, and poster, below and let us know what you think in the comments section.
