The on again/off again status of Ghostbusters 3 has once again taken another turn.
If you’re not a fan of the idea of Ghostbusters 3, then you may want to avert your eyes now because this may be incredibly bad news for you. In a recent interview with Collider, Ivan Reitman discussed the impending Blu-Ray release of Dave, as well as touching on moving forward with sequels to some of his other well known classics.
Here’s what he had to say:
“Well, I’d like to go forward and make new things. I think Ghostbusters probably should be remade, if we can get it all right. We’re working on it, so we’ll see.”
See, I told you it wouldn’t be good news. Now this could all be a big misunderstanding, or a mix-up of words on Reitman’s part. After all, we’ve never heard of Ghostbusters 3 being reffered to as a remake. In fact, the last bit of news to come out was that Etan Cohen had been hired to take yet another pass at the script. But at this point, with all of the ups-and-downs this film has been through, who’s to say this will actually stick?
Reitman also discussed the planned Twins sequel, Triplets, saying that he’s “quite nervous about it,” and that there’s no writer attached. Apparently there’s not even an idea of what it could be at this point either, which could possibly debunk the rumored casting choice of Eddie Murphy as the long lost triplet.
How do you feel about the idea of a Ghostbusters remake? Does Reitman being attached ease some of your worries? Let us know in the comments below.
