File this one firmly under the speculation category for now, but we’ve got reason to believe that Ghost Rider may be showing up in Avengers 4.
As evidenced by the steady stream of set photos, Atlanta is still playing host to Marvel’s unnamed sequel currently on course for a release in 2019. It’s set to be the second, conclusive chapter in a two-part epic, one which presumably pits Earth’s Mightiest Heroes against Thanos for the final time in what’ll surely be a battle of massive proportions. Not only that, but it’ll also feature a gigantic roster of characters, as practically every MCU hero is expected to feature in some shape or form. But how about those unexpected surprises we’ve been promised?
Truthfully, it’s a bit foolish to think that the studio would be trying to stuff even more people into the blockbuster given how busy it already is, but a photo posted by Gabriel Luna, who plays Ghost Rider on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., has got fans talking this week, as it looks like he may have some kind of cameo in Avengers 4. That’s because he’s seen here alongside actor Frank Grillo, who we know is returning as Crossbones and who’s currently in Atlanta shooting his scenes.
Now, just because Luna is sitting with Grillo in this photo it doesn’t mean that Ghost Rider is involved in Marvel’s upcoming blockbuster. Far from it, in fact. But it’s certainly interesting that they’re on a plane together as filming continues on Avengers 4. Don’t you think?
Of course, the big question now is, could a crossover like this really happen, given what we’ve seen in the MCU thus far when it comes to the divide between big screen and small? Well, it’s hard to say at the moment, but it’s important to consider that Marvel’s TV division is really struggling – to put it lightly – and finally breaking down the barriers completely to allow their film and television worlds to collide would surely help with ratings. Especially since Disney is also launching a new streaming service which will be housing a number of future Marvel series, and as such, they may want to unite everything under one big umbrella.
Again, this is all just speculation and the chances of Ghost Rider actually showing up in the pic are probably slim to none. Like we said, though, Luna’s photo is definitely intriguing and it’s already got people talking – even if it may turn out to just be wishful thinking.
For now, what we can tell you with absolute certainty is that once Thanos has waged war on Earth’s Mightiest Heroes, and both Ant-Man and the Wasp and Captain Marvel enjoy their time in the limelight, Marvel will unleash the so-far untitled Avengers 4 upon the moviegoing masses on May 3rd, 2019. That’s still an awful long way away, so until we have some firm answers for you to pour over, you can share your knee-jerk reaction to this latest news in the comments section below.
