Get Your First Glimpse At Goldar In Power Rangers

Expectations are reserved, to say the least, when it comes to next year's live-action Power Rangers reboot. The response to the first trailer was, shall we say, a little contentious, and beyond the occasional Bryan Cranston-led headline, it's hard for fans to muster up too much excitement for the upcoming spring blockbuster. But it is coming, whether good or bad, and as the days start dwindling down, we're getting more and more of an idea of what director Dean Israelite holds in store for us. That includes our first look at Goldar, a character who'll most certainly live up to his name, it seems.

The glimpse comes from the film’s official toy line, which showcases a character that’s nearly as gold plated as anything seen in this year’s Gods of Egypt. Perhaps it’s no coincidence that both films come under Lionsgate’s banner? Of course, the character in the final product may not end up quite as shiny and yellow as he’s presented here, but this look serves as our first glimpse all the same, and it’ll also likely become yet another point of contention among fans.

In addition to Cranston as Zordon, Power Rangers also stars Naomi Scott, David Denman, Becky G., Sarah Grey, RJ Cyler, Emily Maddison, Ludi Lin, Darce Montgomery and Elizabeth Banks as the villainous Rita Repulsa. It morphs into theatres on March 24th, 2017. Much like the popular children’s show, it’ll follow five ordinary teens who must band together to become something pretty special as their town is on the verge of extinction from a sinister alien threat. Of course, this version promises a take that’s a little more dark and gritty – because, movies.
