This Is 40, the sort-of sequel to Knocked Up, released an unimpressive, shorter trailer a few months ago, but today we have redemption in the form of a much better, full-length trailer, courtesy of Yahoo.
Writer/director Judd Apatow shifts the focus of Knocked Up to Paul Rudd and Leslie Mann’s Pete and Debbie, who are struggling with the big milestone of turning 40. It appears some characters in the film are struggling more than others, but everyone is having a bit of a mid-life crisis in some form. The trailer is fittingly scored by The Strokes song You Only Live Once and gives us a much better idea of what to expect.
The synopsis of the film is as follows:
Writer/director/producer Judd Apatow (The 40-Year-Old Virgin, Funny People) brings audiences This Is 40, an original comedy that expands upon the story of Pete (Paul Rudd) and Debbie (Leslie Mann) from the blockbuster hit Knocked Up as we see firsthand how they are dealing with their current state of life.
The film’s supporting cast includes Charlyne Yi, Jason Segel, Albert Brooks, Melissa McCarthy, Lena Dunham, Robert Smigel, John Lithgow, and Chris O’Dowd. Don’t forget a lingerie-clad Megan Fox, which I must say, isn’t the worst thing to include in a trailer.
This Is 40 opens December 21st, and, in my opinion, has the potential to be one of the best comedies of the year.
