Barely 24 hours have passed since the release of the eerie first teaser for Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension and Paramount – showing a complete disregard to those with bad nerves – has now unveiled the full-length clip.
Billed as the fifth and final entry in the cult horror series, The Ghost Dimension will be helmed by Gregory Plotkin, who has served as both editor and co-producer on a number of entires in the franchise. The trailer itself paints a very familiar scene; naive family moves into a deceivingly nice house, stumbles upon some form of spiritual conduit, shit hits the fan.
In this instance, The Ghost Dimension‘s MacGuffin is a collection of old video tapes and a mysterious, unwieldy camera that holds the power to peek into the titular alternate reality. From there, our protagonists – led by Chris J. Murray and Brit Snow – uncover dark secret after dark secret causing all sorts of supernatural trouble. It’s an interesting play on the series lore, even if some of the jump scares in the trailer aren’t as effective as past Paranormal Activity films.
Then again, The Ghost Dimension is seemingly the final entry into the franchise, with producer Jason Blum hoping to send off the series on a high note this October.
It’s coming to an end. This is it, the finale. We’re saying it before the movie opens. Paranormal Activity: The Ghost Dimension will creep into theaters on October 23.
