Best friends forever; it’s a phrase we all used to toss around as kids, running around our local neighbourhood without a care in the world. But for Sasha (Leighton Meester) and Paige (Gillian Jacobs) — the stars of the upcoming romantic comedy, Life Partners — it’s an expression that rings true to this date.
At least, that’s until Jacobs’ character falls in love with Adam Brody’s Tim, a relationship that threatens to throw a spanner in their live-long and seemingly untouchable dynamic. You see, what makes their co-dependency so steadfast is the fact that Sasha is gay while Paige is, as you’ve probably gathered, straight. But, as the film’s maiden trailer attests, complications and compromises start coming thick and fast.
Due to release across VOD on November 6th before appearing in select theatres on December 5th, Life Partners is being helmed by Susanna Fogel. Joining Meester and Jacobs for the atypical romantic comedy are Kate McKinnon and Gabourey Sidibe of Precious fame.
For now, be sure to check out the official synopsis and the wonderful first poster for the film below:
“At 29, the most long-term relationship Sasha (Leighton Meester) and Paige (Gillian Jacobs) have ever been in is with each other, using their co-dependent friendship as an excuse not to venture out into the dating world alone. But when Paige meets nerdy Tim (Adam Brody) and starts to get serious for the first time, the nature of their friendship begins to shift. Fearing she’s being cast aside, Sasha tries to keep their relationship the same, but does growing up also mean growing apart?”
