If a comic book film doesn’t do well the first time around or fails after a certain sequel, more than likely, there will be a relaunch of some kind. It’s happened to Batman, Superman and The Incredible Hulk. This past weekend saw the restart of the X-Men franchise with X-Men: First Class and now, 20th Century Fox is looking to reboot another franchise.
Brad Caleb Kane, one of the writer-producers for the Fox TV show Fringe, is set to pen the Daredevil reboot, according to The Hollywood Reporter blog Heat Vision. Kane will be adapting Born Again, written by Frank Miller (Sin City, 300) and drawn by David Mazzucchelli. The story looks at “Daredevil’s fall to insanity and destitution at the hands of The Kingpin (Daredevil’s girlfriend reveals his secret identity in exchange for drugs), as well as his subsequent struggle to build a new life for himself.” David Slade (30 Days of Night) is attached to direct.
Some unknown sources told Heat Vision that Kane is a huge Daredevil fan and that “his energy and passion for the material helped him nab the job.”
As for who will play the lead role, well no one is confirmed yet but there have been rumors of Bradley Cooper possibly taking it on.
We’ll let you know more when we find out.
