Steven Spielberg’s Lincoln seems to be gearing up for a run at the Oscars next year as it’s certainly got multiple hallmarks that are more than likely to catch the attention of the Academy.
It’s directed by Spielberg, a three-time Oscar winner, it stars Daniel Day-Lewis, a two-time Oscar winner, and to top it all off, it’s a biopic about one of the most beloved presidents in American history.
In anticipation for the release of the first official trailer on September 13th, a teaser has been released to give us a small glimpse of what we can expect.
It’s not much to go on, showing mainly a bit of battle footage and a few moody shots of Day-Lewis in character as the titular president, but it does what it sets out to do, which is get you excited about what you’ll see when the full trailer drops on Thursday.
A brief synopsis of the film reads as follows:
As the Civil War nears its end, President Abraham Lincoln clashes with members of his cabinet over the issue of abolishing slavery.
