Diana Prince of Themyscira is not to be trifled with – she’s the Immortal Warrior, for crying out loud.
With Wonder Woman 1984‘s production now in full swing, a series of set photos (and videos!) have already escaped onto the interwebs, revealing, among other things, Gal Gadot back in period garb, a full-blown street riot, and Steve Trevor, whose sudden reappearance has sparked all sorts of conspiracy theories online.
Word is Chris Pine’s heroic WWI pilot will be introduced as a figment of Diana’s imagination, given he made the ultimate sacrifice during Wonder Woman‘s admittedly bittersweet finale (“I can save today, but you can save the world”). The jury’s still out on that one, but we might learn more next month, as we’re now hearing that the sequel will join Shazam! and Aquaman at Warner Bros.’ San Diego Comic-Con panel, with Gal Gadot herself expected to be in attendance to present the first bit of footage.
Chalk this up as a rumor for now, but multiple outlets are reporting that Wonder Woman 1984 will be present at SDCC next month and though it’s unclear if what’s shown will be a proper trailer or just a quick scene or two, this is hugely exciting news. Even if we doubt the studio will release the footage online afterwards. We could be wrong, of course, but this sounds like something they’ll want to keep exclusive to those in Hall H.
Either way, we imagine that Comic-Con will bring with it tons of new information about the sequel, as one glance at the DCEU calendar tells us that Wonder Woman 1984 has been scheduled for release on November 1st, 2019 – six weeks earlier than initially expected, after Warner Bros. brought Diana’s second solo outing forward so as to avoid a clash with Star Wars: Episode IX. And with production now underway and the film set for an appearance in San Diego next month, the floodgates should really open up in the not too distant future.
