CinemaCon has proven to be quite an experience for those in attendance, with footage being shown off from some of 2017’s biggest films. While most of these screenings and trailer/clip reveals were expected, last night brought with it a surprise, as Universal decided to bring The Fate of the Furious with them, showing it off to some lucky attendees. Of course, full reviews are still under embargo, but the first wave of reactions have now made their way online, and they’re overwhelmingly positive.
You’d think that after eight installments, the franchise would be running out of gas about now (pun intended), but apparently not, as The Fate of the Furious appears to be even more wild and over the top than what’s come before – though we’re not quite sure how that’s possible. Judging by the reactions of those who’ve seen it, F. Gary Gray’s entry into the franchise is a ridiculously fun ride, one that should have no trouble pleasing longtime fans of all things Fast and Furious.
The Fate of the Furious races into theatres on April 14th, so it shouldn’t be too much longer now before some full reviews start to surface. Hopefully they’re just as glowing as these first impressions, though, as Universal has drafted up tentative plans for another two entries into the petrolhead series, which would take the total number of films to a record-breaking ten.
Is there enough mileage in the tank for Fast and Furious to reach double figures? We’ll get a better sense of the franchise’s future prospects next month.

The Fate of the Furious takes the ridiculousness of the franchise to a whole new level, yet feels very different. Should be a gigantic hit.

I adored every ridiculous, silly, charming, absurd, fun second of The Fate of the Furious.

The Fate of the Furious is another winning entry in the franchise. Crazy, fun, and yet very different feeling. I laughed, I cried, I cheered

Fate of the Furious is everything you want it to be and a ton of fun. @TheRock is a straight up superhero in the film and I loved it. pic.twitter.com/uz9QgnhVZ3

THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS is no joke. Doubles down on action, emotion, intensity, humor &, of course, family. The NYC stuff is off the chain. pic.twitter.com/K3aeviUYCf

Loved @TheRock and Jason Statham in FATE OF THE FURIOUS. Their characters really popped; great dialogue & fight scenes #F8

THE FATE OF THE FURIOUS features some great action set pieces but I think I may be too old for this franchise, which just isn't the same now

So we got a #CinemaCon2017 surprise, with a screening of "The Fate of the Furious" in full. Pretty cool, still ridiculous action.
