As November came and went with no sign of the Avengers 4 trailer, the upcoming Avengers 4 Prelude comic was taken as a sign by many that the first set of footage from the Avengers: Infinity War sequel would at least be coming our way before the first week of December was finished. After all, with issue number one arriving on Wednesday the 5th, it stood to reason that the comic wouldn’t hit shelves without the film’s official title being revealed in advance.
That being said, with the release date just a couple of days away now, there’s little time left for this theory to be proven right, regardless of what other fresh developments happen to head our way this week. But whether or not the film’s full name will be appearing on the cover of the comic, it’s likely that the book’s contents will be offering some illuminating context on what’s to come in next year’s release.
In this fresh preview, however, the panels are sticking to some familiar territory, kicking things off just where Infinity War opened, with a recreation of Thanos’ first meeting with Thor and his fellow Asgardians. The newly shared illustrations take us from the Mad Titan’s opening monologue to the moments before Loki’s death.
No doubt fans will be poring over the content of this first issue for clues of what’s to come, though if the current rumors are anything to go by, then Wednesday 5th will be bringing us an even bigger reveal in the form of the first Avengers 4 trailer. We’re still waiting for official confirmation on that development, but it certainly feels like Marvel Studios are getting ready to loosen up a little on their no-spoiler policy. In any case, all will be revealed when the film hits theaters on May 3rd, 2019.
