There’s been a Murder on the Orient Express! But who, pray tell, is responsible for such a heinous atrocity? That’s a question set to be presented to moviegoers by writer-director Kenneth Branagh, who is currently orchestrating what’s arguably one of the most high-profile ‘whodunits?’ in Hollywood history.
Set to pull into the station in November, Entertainment Weekly has today sifted through the perplexing riddles and throwaway clues to uncover the first-look photos for Branagh’s long-brewing remake, who also headlines Fox’s star-studded ensemble as Hercule Poirot, the detective tasked with solving the riddle of the titular murder.
You’ll be able to catch a glimpse of Poirot in action up above, as he begins to interrogate all of the passengers on board the vessel. Somewhere between its long, winding journey from Istanbul to Paris, the Orient Express grinds to a halt in the face of a relentless snowstorm, and it’s here where Branagh’s nervy thriller begins to up the ante. Based on the cherished 1934 novel by Agatha Christie – first adapted for the screen by Sidney Lumet during the ’70s – Murder on the Orient Express looks set to spin an engrossing investigation involving a who’s who of Hollywood talent. With Kenneth Branagh’s Hercule Poirot set to take point, the 2017 remake also has room on board for Johnny Depp, The Force Awakens breakout Daisy Ridley, Michelle Pfeiffer, Penelope Cruz, Josh Gad, Judi Dench, Michael Pena, Leslie Odom, Lucy Boynton and many, many more.
Emerging from a prolonged spell in development, Murder on the Orient Express is due to pull into theaters on November 10th, when Kenneth Branagh’s all-star remake will be sandwiched between two superhero tentpoles in Thor: Ragnarok and Zack Snyder’s Justice League.
