UPDATE: Universal has announced that the trailer has been delayed and will not be premiering on the 30th anymore.
‘Tis the season for blockbuster trailers, it seems.
With the first-look teaser for Avengers: Infinity War seemingly imminent – word is it’ll drop early next month, before being attached to Star Wars: The Last Jedi on December 15th – Universal has drawn up plans to unveil Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom‘s trailer this Thursday, November 30th, during the Cowboys vs. Redskins NFL game on NBC. Not that we can say we haven’t seen it coming.
For instance, just last week Colin Trevorrow Tweeted out a cute little Thanksgiving message in which Owen Grady (Chris Pratt) got up close and personal with a baby velociraptor. Whether this was pulled from a flashback sequence is up for question, though it would certainly make sense considering that Isla Nublar was almost reduced to rubble at the tail-end of Jurassic World in 2015.
Then again, it was the whip-smart ‘raptor known as Blue that rushed in to save the day two years ago, ultimately allowing the resident Tyrannosaurus rex to regain the upper hand in its brutal fight with the Indominus. So perhaps Owen Grady still has a soft spot for dinos? We’ll find out very soon.
Truth be told, aside from even more genetically modified dinosaurs and the promise of a “suspenseful and scary” story, there’s not a lot of intel currently available for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom. The subtitle does hint at a possible deep dive into Isla Nublar and its murky history though, which would certainly leave the door open for Ian Malcolm’s return. Yes, after his rip-roaring turn in Thor: Ragnarok, the great Jeff Goldblum is returning to the Jurassic franchise for another whirl. And we couldn’t be more excited.
Also starring Toby Jones, Daniella Pineda, Justice Smith, Rafe Spall, Ted Levine, James Cromwell, and Juan Antonio Bayona’s good-luck charm Geraldine Chaplin, Fallen Kingdom will be with us on June 22nd, 2018. Stay tuned to WGTC over the coming days when we’ll have full coverage of Jurassic World 2 and Infinity War‘s respective reveals. Talk about a big week for Chris Pratt!
