Pixar’s blockbuster hit, Finding Nemo, is one of the latest movies set to be re-released in 3D. In case you haven’t watched the original film, it tells the story of a clownfish, Marlin, as he ventures throughout the deep blue sea with his blue tang friend, Dory, in search of his son – Nemo of course. Along the way they stumble upon all the ocean has to offer in the form of sharks, jellyfish, turtles, and a number of other sea creatures.

Pixar has graced us with a featurette on the re-release, showing the one and only John Lasseter, Andrew Stanton, and Lee Unkrich speaking on the magnificence of seeing Finding Nemo in 3D for the first time. The video is filled with some of the scenes that will be greatly impacted by the conversion: from the whales and pelicans to the chase and currents, viewers are reminded of the movie that blew them out of the water and brought them down under.

The mesmerizing ocean and the simple ebb and flow of the water and everything in it were already hypnotizing to begin with, so it’s no shock to see how enthusiastic the directors are of the re-release.

Finding Nemo 3D will be released in theaters on September 14, 2012. Whether or not this release will bring the film’s worldwide gross to over $1 billion is still up in the air, but chances are, it will cause more than just a splash.
