Pixar and Disney have unveiled a series of character posters today for Andrew Stanton’s upcoming animated sequel, Finding Dory.
Bubbling up from the depths of the deep blue sea, fans of Stanton’s Finding Nemo will recognize a handful of familiar faces in the gallery above, most notable of which being Ellen DeGeneres’ forgetful fish, Dory. There’s also shots of Marlin and Nemo – voiced by Albert Brooks and Hayden Rolence, respectively, with the latter replacing Alexander Gould from the 2003 original.
Beyond that core trio, Finding Dory is no slouch when it comes to casting, either, with Diane Keaton, Willem Dafoe, Dominic West, Kaitlin Olson, Ty Burrell, Diane Keaton, Ed O’Neill, Eugene Levy, Idris Elba and Michael Sheen all on board for Pixar’s aquatic adventure.
Speaking to USA Today, Andrew Stanton also touched base on staging a mini reunion for The Wire, with both West and Elba on board to venture beneath the waves.
“Idris and Dominic are well-trained, dramatic, Shakespearean actors, but they can do comedy like nobody’s business. They just ran with it. They played jolly and lazy really well. But the truth is, I really wanted to witness a Wire reunion,” he adds. “So we got them together.”
Following a relatively unsuccessful foray into live-action filmmaking with John Carter, Andrew Stanton is returning to familiar maritime territory with Finding Dory, and only when the animated sequel releases on June 17 will we know for sure if the 13-year wait has been worth it.
