A few weeks ago we got to see an intriguing poster for John Hillcoat’s Lawless featuring a confused looking Shia LaBeouf and his perplexing gun. Courtesy of Hit Fix we now have a full poster that not only uses the same LaBeouf image, but also adds Tom Hardy and Jessica Chastain into the mix.
The poster doesn’t really give us any new information about the prohibition drama, but it certainly looks cool. The slogan “When The Law Became Corrupt, Outlaws Became Heroes” adorns the top of the poster, further building the gritty tone of the trailers and the images we’ve seen.
Hardy looks absolutely menacing, though after his performance as Bane in The Dark Knight Rises, it may be hard to see him as anything other than intimidating for quite some time. His character’s girlfriend will be played by the lovely Jessica Chastain, who rounds out the trio featured on the poster.
With less than one month until release, Lawless is shaping up to be a major awards contender. It has one of the most exciting casts we’ve seen this year with Jason Clarke, Guy Pearce, Mia Wasikowska, Gary Oldman, and Dane DeHaan starring alongside the three leads.
Personally, I think this could end up being one of the best films of 2012, but a good portion of the movie’s success will ride on LaBeouf. Hopefully he’ll be able to prove himself as a true leading man.
Check out the poster below and let us know your thoughts.
“Lawless is the true story of the infamous Bondurant Brothers: bootlegging siblings who made a run for the American Dream in Prohibition-era Virginia. In this epic gangster tale, inspired by true-life tales of author Matt Bondurant’s family in his novel The Wettest County in the World, the loyalty of three brothers is put to the test against the backdrop of the nation’s most notorious crime wave.”
