Four months on from the moment writer-director Ava DuVernay first yelled “action!” on the set of A Wrinkle in Time and we now have confirmation that DuVernay and Co. have wrapped principal photography – and there’s a slew of new pics and behind-the-scenes photos to prove it.
An adaptation of Madeleine L’Engle’s cherished children’s book, A Wrinkle in Time has since found a home at Disney, and last night’s announcement ensures the fantasy flick is well on its way to hitting that 2018 release date. DuVernay, meanwhile, took the opportunity to extend a heartfelt message of thanks to the cast and crew, before labeling the big-screen adaptation as “an epic adventure” via Twitter.
DuVernay continued: “Thanks to the truly beautiful crew of Wrinkle in Time and our studio for standing with me every step of the way. Extraordinary experience.”
Headed up by newcomer Storm Reid as the wide-eyed Meg Murry, Madeleine L’Engle’s novel chronicles her remarkable journey through time and space, all in an effort to locate her missing father, who was last seen working on a government experiment involving a tesseract. She’ll encounter a whole host of colorful characters on the way, too, including the Happy Medium (Zach Galifianakis), a mystical character housed up in a cavern somewhere in Orion’s Belt, while there’s also the triple threat of Mrs. Which (Oprah Winfrey, Mrs. Whatsit (Reese Witherspoon), and Mrs. Who (Mindy Kaling).
Also on board for the feature film are Gugu Mbatha-Raw, Andre Holland, Levi Miller (Pan), Bellamy Young (Scandal), Rowan Blanchard (Girl Meets World) and newcomer Deric McCabe.
A Wrinkle in Time will whisk moviegoers off on a fantastical journey through the cosmos on April 6th, 2018. Frozen scribe Jennifer Lee is the brains behind the screenplay.
