I’m going to give GOAT Movie Podcast some kudos for this, but it wasn’t just them that solved the riddle. Regardless, you can check out their reasoning below:

Endgame is a word that looks to have had some significance to the MCU as well. Back in Avengers: Age of Ultron, for instance, Tony Stark and Captain America had an exchange in which Stark said: “A hostile alien army came charging through a hole in space. We’re standing three hundred feet below it. We’re the Avengers. We can bust arms dealers all the live long day but that, up there, that’s the endgame.” And then in Infinity War, Doctor Strange handed the Time Stone to Thanos and said cryptically, “We’re in the endgame now.”

As for what the title could signify, well, obviously Avengers: Endgame will be the conclusion to a story that’s been playing out in the MCU almost since its beginnings. Ever since we first saw the Tesseract in Captain America: The First Avenger, the films were slowly establishing the Infinity Stones, Thanos and what he’d do. Endgame will be the finale to all this.

On top of that, though, there’s the notion that the events of the film represent what Strange saw when he was looking for a way to defeat Thanos. He looks into the future and sees 14,000,605 outcomes that their battle can end in – and only one in which they win. Presumably, Avengers: Endgame will be Strange’s roll of the dice to make sure that one happy ending occurs, and we’ll find out if it works on April 26th, when the movie opens big.
