It’s been a long and arduous road to Andy Muschetti’s The Flash film, in no small part to the misdemeanors and actions of its star Ezra Miller forcing Warner Bros. hand to pump the brakes on releasing the movie. However, in the face of the star’s ongoing allegations and legal tribulations, Miller appears to be getting raucous applause for his performance in the upcoming film.
Of course, this puts the socially conscious DC fan at something of a crossroads – we know that The Flash will be more or less marking the end of the DC Universe as we’ve come to know it under Zack Snyder’s various contributions, and as such, it’s going to be a big event for any fan invested in the franchise’s future.
Now – a stellar performance in what is being widely lauded as a remarkable film, doesn’t exonerate a movie star with a lengthy rap sheet of felonies, some of which involve minors. After all, Kevin Spacey was swiftly booted off House of Cards and ousted from the entertainment industry at large in the wake of his controversies, so it begs the question as to why Ezra Miller is being given allowances. After all, prior to Spacey’s misdeeds coming to light, he was also considered to be a great actor.
At the end of the day, it’s up to the individual as to whether or not they want to head out into cinemas and potentially line Miller’s pockets with a ticket sale. We’re not (nor should anyone be) here to gatekeep one’s choices in entertainment. All we know is, the popular opinion right now seems to be that the actor has knocked it out of the park with their performance. With Michael Keaton reprising his role as Batman for the first time since the early 90’s and Man of Steel references coming out of the wazoo, The Flash is a somewhat understandably tempting proposition.
Undoubtedly, audiences will end up voting with their wallets when The Flash arrives in cinemas on June 16, 2023. As you probably already know, the film recently received a fresh trailer.
