It’s been a long time since Eli Roth’s last directorial effort (Hostel II in 2007), but he’s been keeping busy as an actor and a producer over the last few years. Now, though, he’s back behind the camera with his latest film, The Green Inferno, which proves to be a love letter to the cannibal horror movies that he grew up on.
The movie stars Lorenza Izzo as Justine, a college student who decides to join up with a group of activists to stop the tearing down of the Amazonian jungle. While en route though, their plane crashes in the jungle and they are soon captured by a tribe that is intent on using them to solve their hunger issues.
During the press day for The Green Inferno, we had the chance to sit down with Roth and Izzo for an exclusive interview. They spoke about the challenges of filming in the jungle, what about this particular project made Roth want to direct again, why Izzo enjoyed playing this character so much, and a whole lot more.
Check out what they had to say in the video above and be sure to catch The Green Inferno when it finally arrives in theaters on September 25th.
