2014 has been pretty disappointing thus far for comedy, but Nicholas Stoller’s Neighbors is looking to change all that. If the name doesn’t sound familiar, then allow us to refresh your memory. Mr. Stoller is the same man who previously brought us side-splitting comedies like Forgetting Sarah Marshall and Get Him To The Greek, two of the funniest films of the last decade. This time around, he’s assembled one hell of a cast to lead the way. With Zac Efron, Seth Rogen, Rose Byrne, and Dave Franco all flexing their comedic chops at full strength, the laughs are huge in Neighbors, and they just keep coming.
The film follows Rogen and Byrne as Mac and Kelly Radner, a young couple who have just moved into a new home with their baby daughter. All is peaceful and idyllic in their lives until a frat, led by Efron’s Teddy, moves in next door. In hopes of keeping the peace, so to speak, Mac and Kelly attempt to befriend the young group of boys now living only feet away from them. Their plan works at first, but after the frat parties a bit too hard one night, and Mac is forced to call the cops on them, all hell breaks loose and a war begins between the two households.
Last weekend, the cast of Neighbors arrived in NYC for the film’s press day. While there, we were lucky enough to land an exclusive interview with Rogen, Byrne, Efron, Franco, Christopher Mintz-Plasse and Jerrod Carmichael, who were all a delight to chat with. They spoke about pushing the envelope with their comedy, crossing boundaries, working with babies on set and much more.
Check it out in the video below and be sure to catch Neighbors when it hits theatres this Friday! We promise that the film will have you in stitches.
