Innuendo? In your endo! Lars Von Trier’s two-part sexual shenanigan flick, Nymphomaniac, has delivered another glimpse into its world. The arrival of this staged teaser is not unexpected. The launch of the film’s website earlier this month printed the first poster for the flick. It also invited people in a suggestive manner, to return to the site on May 16th. So we did, and what Von Trier has posted is an image showcasing the entire cast, in rather compromising positions.
This phallic panorama is quite the racy expose. With all the cast evoking suggestive sexual encounters, Von Trier looks on from the left side – with tape across his mouth. It comes across a little like a sexualised version of Where’s Wally? (or Where’s Waldo? for you Americans). For adults, obviously. You can certainly wile away a good….minute trying to spot all of the carefully placed tips. Ahem.
The director caused a bit of a commotion at Cannes back in 2010. When making Hitler jokes it seems for Von Trier, there is never a good time. His absence at this year’s festival is unrelated to his loose tongued comments last year though, as he’s busy working on the post-production for Nymphomaniac. According to producer Peter Aaelback Jensen the visual effects element of the flick is so mammoth that the post work is taking longer than anticipated.
A release date for the film has also been announced, hurrah! Well, for folks in Denmark that is. The first segment of the film will be released on Christmas Day over there. It pretty much confirms that the film’s widespread (ahem) release won’t be until early 2014.
