Another day, another batch of Ant-Man and The Wasp set photos. I guess shooting a major Marvel movie in the middle of the day in downtown Atlanta will lead to a horde of curious spectators all armed with camera phones, and this is simply the result. Today’s serving, while not terribly exciting, gives us another look at Evangeline Lilly in full Wasp outfit and hanging out by a dumpster between shots.
Though we have seen quite a lot of what’s going on on Peyton Reed’s set, at least it’s all been good stuff. Here, Lilly looks cool, relaxed and comfortable in the suit. Previous leaks, meanwhile, have revealed the presence of Hannah John-Kamen (soon to be seen in Ready Player One) in costume as what fans have concluded must be the Ghost, a supervillain who has the powers of invisibility and being able to walk through walls.
Right now, we know that practically the whole Ant-Man cast is returning. That includes, Michael Douglas (Hank Pym), Michael Pena (Luis), T.I. (Dave), David Dastmalchian (Kurt), Judy Greer (Maggie Lang) and Abby Ryder Fortson (Cassie Lang). That’s already a pretty damn strong roster, though the new additions to it are impressive in their own right: the aforementioned John-Kamen, Walton Goggins, Jimmy Woo, Lawrence Fishburne and Michelle Pfieffer as the Wasp’s long-lost mother (and original Wasp).
The first Ant-Man had a notoriously difficult production, which ended with one of my favorite directors, Edgar Wright, being summarily booted from the project. I feared the worst, but the final product actually turned out to be pretty fun. Here’s hoping that Peyton Reed can replicate that knock-around atmosphere that made this stand out from your average Marvel fare with the sequel.
Ant-Man and The Wasp is set to be released on July 6th, 2018.
