UPDATE: David Ayer has also released the first full photo of Will Smith as Deadshot, featuring the character’s iconic mask and eye augmentation. Check it out below!
David Ayer has tweeted out the first official photo of the Suicide Squad cast in costume. Though Jared Leto’s Joker is unfortunately absent (getting some dental work done, perhaps?) and Viola Davis’ Amanda Waller is conspicuously AWOL, the rest of Task Force X have assembled, they’re all sporting some very interesting looks:

In particular, I’m digging Will Smith’s badass Deadshot costume – he has all the trimmings of a scene stealer in the Warner Bros. flick, which is the third installment of its budding comic-book universe after Man of Steel and 2016’s Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice. It’s also striking how true to the comic Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje looks as Killer Croc, and I also really like what they’ve done with Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn. The Wolf of Wall Street starlet was pitch-perfect casting for the incredibly complex role. And while the photo of Leto’s Joker was a bit divisive, I think that fans will be genuinely excited about what Ayer and his team have done with the rest of the cast.
Suicide Squad hits theatres on August 5th, 2016. In case you can’t tell who’s who in the photo, we have (from left to right) Adam Beach as Slipknot, Jai Courtney as Captain Boomerang, Cara Delevingne as Enchantress, Karen Fukuhara as Katana, Joel Kinnaman as Rick Flagg, Margot Robbie as Harley Quinn, Will Smith as Deadshot, Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje as Killer Croc and Jay Hernandez as El Diablo. Talk about a stacked deck of actors – now all we need is the Joker to join their ranks.
