Whether you’re a fan of gaming, fantasy, film, Chris Pine, or just about anything in between, a delectable treat in the form of Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves will be upon us all soon enough. With everyone from critics to the top-billers having fallen in love with its hearty ethos, it sounds like we’ll all be rolling with disadvantage should we choose to nitpick.
Honor Among Thieves follows the wickedly dangerous and just as endearing plight of Edgin Darvis – along with a posse of thieves made up of allies old and new – sets off on a quest to thwart the evil Red Wizards of Thay, who also happened to be poorly selected clients of theirs.
We can expect a lot of fun from writer-director duo Jonathan Goldstein and John Francis Daley, who went all in on bringing the beloved source material to life, up to and including the feel-good spirit that all the best Dungeons & Dragons sessions have. It won’t be any surprise if everyone starts begging for a sequel, which the pair seem cautiously optimistic about.
In an interview with Variety, Goldstein and Daley had no confirmation for any further chapters in the works, but they weren’t shy about being more than delighted to jump back in should the studio give them the chance.
“We’re very superstitious, we don’t like to talk about that kind of stuff. But, if we’re so lucky, we would love to get back together with this family.”
At the very least, they won’t have any shortage of material to pull from; given that the IP boasts nearly 50 years’ worth of official content, to say nothing of the boundless creativity the game offers, all the pieces in the world are there to build a second excursion; all we need is that sweet green light.
Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves releases to theaters on March 31.
